English title:	Nanotechnology in nature and biomimicry: a science teaching approach from integral and interdisciplinary practices for students of STEM degrees
Spanish title:	Nanotecnolog�a en la naturaleza y biomimesis: un enfoque de ense�anza de las ciencias desde las pr�cticas integrales e interdisciplinar para estudiantes de carreras STEM
English abstract:	The comprehensive training course, allows the student to have an approach to research lines through which they develop teaching, research, and extension activities. This course aims to stimulate reflection on the teaching of science, and for students to have a critical approach and analysis on integral and interdisciplinary practices. Likewise, students are encouraged to develop didactic material and/or recreational activities according to the school�s educational reality. The Nanotechnology in Nature and Biomimicry module is a theoretical/practical workshop where students, of different degrees, from the college of sciences of "Universidad de la Rep�blica", approach the subject through theoretical discussion classes. The main characteristics and properties of nanostructures are studied and examples of application in nature are provided. Students go through a research stage where they develop practical experiences that allow them to communicate the fundamental concepts of the properties of nanostructures to school-age boys and girls. The educational proposal resulting from the research and reflection process is presented to the teacher to have an exchange and adapt it to the level of the school group. The teaching team is formed by members of the Analytical Biochemistry Unit and the Entomology Department of the college of sciences of the "Universidad de la Rep�blica", Uruguay.
Spanish abstract:	Los espacios de formaci�n integral, permiten al estudiante tener una aproximaci�n a l�neas de investigaci�n a trav�s de las cuales desarrolla actividades de ense�anza, investigaci�n y extensi�n. Este curso pretende estimular la reflexi�n pr�ctica sobre la ense�anza de la ciencia y que los estudiantes tengan un acercamiento y an�lisis cr�tico sobre las pr�cticas integrales e interdisciplinares. Asimismo, se promueve que los estudiantes desarrollen material did�ctico y/o actividades l�dicas acordes a la realidad educativa escolar. El m�dulo Nanotecnolog�a en la naturaleza y biomimesis es un taller te�rico/pr�ctico donde estudiantes de distintas licenciaturas de la Facultad de Ciencias de Universidad de la Rep�blica tienen una aproximaci�n a la tem�tica mediante clases de discusi�n te�ricas en donde se estudian las principales caracter�sticas y propiedades de las nanoestructuras y se les proporcionan ejemplos de aplicaci�n en la naturaleza. Los estudiantes transitan por una etapa de investigaci�n donde desarrollan experiencias pr�cticas que les permitan comunicar los conceptos fundamentales de las propiedades de las nanoestructuras a ni�os y ni�as de edad escolar. La propuesta educativa resultante del proceso de investigaci�n y reflexi�n, es presentada a la maestra para tener un intercambio y adecuarla al nivel del grupo de escolares. El equipo docente est� conformado por integrantes de la Unidad de Bioqu�mica Anal�tica y el Departamento de Entomolog�a de la Facultad de Ciencias de la Universidad de la Rep�blica, Uruguay.
