Spanish title:	Perspectiva y futuro en la producci�n de energ�a renovable en Am�rica Latina y el Caribe y la importancia de Brasil en el desarrollo de tecnolog�as aplicadas en la producci�n de biog�s
English abstract:	Decarbonization is a viable and necessary goal in Latin America and the Caribbean, as it is committed to sustainable development, mitigation, and adaptation to climate change. Although fossil fuels have so far been the most used in most of these countries, there has been an increase in the use of renewable energies in recent decades, such as wind, hydroelectric, biomass and bioenergy. Latin America, in particular, presents an environmental and continuous problem of increasing the production of organic waste and its disposal in rural and urban areas. In many countries, sustainable waste management, as well as waste prevention and reduction, has become an important political priority, representing an important part of common efforts to reduce pollution and mitigate global climate change. Some countries in Latin America have a high potential for the production of biogas in the agro-industrial sector, especially the sugar-energy sector, and in the treatment of animal and urban waste. However, the lack of technical solutions and the use of national technologies that make biogas production and use economically viable is one of the main obstacles in the viability of the entry of this biofuel in its energy matrices. In this sense, Brazil has developed technologies applied in farms, sites, residences, and industries in the country, because in addition to solving the problem of waste and sewage discharges, it produces biogas as clean and sustainable energy.
Spanish abstract:	La descarbonizaci�n es un objetivo viable y necesario en Am�rica Latina y el Caribe, ya que est� comprometida con el desarrollo sostenible, la mitigaci�n y la adaptaci�n al cambio clim�tico. Si bien los combustibles f�siles han sido hasta ahora los m�s utilizados en la mayor�a de estos pa�ses, se ha producido un aumento en el uso de energ�as renovables en las �ltimas d�cadas, como la e�lica, hidroel�ctrica, biomasa y bioenerg�a. Am�rica Latina, en particular, presenta un problema ambiental y continuo de aumento de la producci�n de desechos org�nicos y su disposici�n en �reas rurales y urbanas. En muchos pa�ses, la gesti�n sostenible de desechos, as� como la prevenci�n y reducci�n de desechos, se ha convertido en una prioridad pol�tica importante, que representa una parte importante de los esfuerzos comunes para reducir la contaminaci�n y mitigar el cambio clim�tico global. Algunos pa�ses de Am�rica Latina tienen un alto potencial para la producci�n de biog�s en el sector agroindustrial, especialmente el sector azucarero-energ�tico, y en el tratamiento de desechos animales y urbanos. Sin embargo, la falta de soluciones t�cnicas y el uso de tecnolog�as nacionales que viabilicen econ�micamente la producci�n y uso de biog�s, es uno de los principales obst�culos en la viabilidad del ingreso de este biocombustible en sus matrices energ�ticas. En este sentido, Brasil ha desarrollado tecnolog�as aplicadas en granjas, sitios, residencias e industrias en el pa�s, porque adem�s de resolver el problema de las descargas de desechos y aguas residuales, produce biog�s como una energ�a limpia y sostenible.
