English title:	Evaluation of equivalent stress intensity factor models under mixed mode fracture in low carbon steel
Spanish title:	Evaluaci�n de modelos de factor de intensidad de esfuerzo equivalente bajo modo mixto de fractura en acero de bajo carbono
English abstract:	This study aims to determine the equivalent stress intensity factor (SIF) model that best fits the experimental behavior of low carbon steel under mixed mode fracture I and II. The SIF models of Tanaka, Asaro, Pook, and Richard were evaluated. The theoretical values used for comparison correspond to experimental results in a modified C(T) geometry by machining a hole in the region near the crack, subjected to fatigue loads with a load ratio of R = 0.1. The SIF of six experimental points was compared with the values computed through the models. To analyze the prediction in the estimated number of cycles, the Paris, Paris-Erdogan, and modified Forman-Newman crack growth models were used with each equivalent SIF. It is concluded that the modified Forman-Newman model has the best prediction since the error between the calculated and experimentally recorded number of cycles is the lowest. Additionally, it was observed that Richard's equivalent SIF implies a conservative approach in the element's life, with increasing errors from -1.69% at the start of growth up to 71% at the end of the calculation.
Spanish abstract:	El estudio tiene como objetivo determinar el modelo del factor de intensidad de esfuerzo equivalente (FIT) que mejor se ajuste al comportamiento experimental de un acero de bajo carbono bajo modo mixto de fractura I y II. Se evaluaron los modelos de FIT de Tanaka, Asaro, Pook y Richard. Los valores te�ricos que se utilizan para la comparativa corresponden a resultados experimentales en una geometr�a tipo C(T) modificada por el maquinado de un agujero en la regi�n cercana a la grieta, sometida a cargas de fatiga con una relaci�n de cargas de R = 0.1. Se compararon los FIT de seis puntos experimentales con los valores computados a trav�s de los modelos. Para analizar la predicci�n en el n�mero de ciclos estimados se utilizaron los modelos de crecimiento de grieta de Paris, Paris-Erdogan y modificado de Forman-Newman con cada FIT equivalente. Se concluye que el modelo con mejor predicci�n es el modificado de Forman-Newman dado que el error entre el n�mero de ciclos calculados y registrados experimentalmente es el menor. Adem�s, se observ� que el FIT equivalente de Richard implica un enfoque conservativo en vida �til del elemento, con errores crecientes de -1.69% para el inicio del crecimiento hasta 71% al final del c�lculo.
