English title:	ELABORATION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF BIOPLASTICS FROM MIXTURES OF STARCH OBTAINED FROM AVOCADO SEEDS AND SILVER NANOPARTICLES
Spanish title:	ELABORACI�N Y CARACTERIZACI�N DE BIOPL�STICOS APARTIR DE MEZCLAS DE ALMID�N OBTENIDOS DE SEMILLAS DE AGUACATE Y NANOPART�CULAS DE PLATA
English abstract:	The purpose of this research is to obtain and characterize morphological, structural, chemical, thermal and mechanical bioplastics from hass avocado (Persea americana 'hass) seed starch in a matrix loaded with silver nanoparticles (AgNP's). The starches were extracted by the wet alkali method with sodium hydroxide-NaOH at 0,2% w/w and treatment with sodium metabisulfite-Na2S2O5 at 0,2% w/w and subsequent structural, morphological and physicochemical characterization. The silver nanoparticles were synthesized by electrochemical methods and characterized morphologically and chemically by Transmission Microscopy (TEM), and Microanalysis by Energy Disperse X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS). The extracted starch was used as an active polymeric source in amounts of variable formulation, carrying out previous tests to identify the mixing proportions in the formation of the semicrystalline solid, with water, acetic acid, glycerin, and silver particles mixing through the technique casting in plasticizer concentrations of 10 to 30 g/100 g of starch at 80�C for 10 min. Subsequently, the masses obtained were subjected to the process of physical modification and pelleting with a humidity setting of approximately 50%. The average starch extracted from Hass avocado seeds was 2895,03g of dry powder at 35�C, which represents a yield of 14,93%. A type B structure is evidenced with a crystallinity of 38,63% showing thermal and granular coupling in the polymeric structure. Starch extraction was successful and its yield can be considered low, however, the environment and food safety can be benefited thanks to the intelligent transformation of this waste, which can be used in food and non-food systems.
Spanish abstract:	El prop�sito de esta investigaci�n es obtener y caracterizar morfol�gica, estructural, qu�mica, t�rmica y mec�nicamente biopl�sticos a partir de almid�n de semillas del aguacate hass (Persea americana �hass) en una matriz cargada con nanopart�culas de plata (AgNP�s). Los almidones se extrajeron por el m�todo de �lcalis por v�a h�meda con hidr�xido de sodio-NaOH al 0,2%p/p y tratamiento de metabisulfito de sodio-Na2S2O5 al 0,2%p/p y posterior caracterizaci�n estructural, morfol�gica y fisicoqu�mica. Las nanopart�culas de plata fueron sintetizadas por m�todos electroqu�micos y caracterizadas morfol�gica y qu�micamente por Microscopia de Trasmisi�n (TEM), y Microan�lisis por Espectroscopia de Energ�as Dispersas de Rayos X (EDS). El almid�n extra�do se us� como fuente polim�rica activa en cantidades de formulaci�n variable llev�ndose a cabo ensayos previos para identificar las proporciones de mezcla en la formaci�n del s�lido semicristalino, con agua, �cido ac�tico, glicerina, y part�culas de plata mezcl�ndose a trav�s de la t�cnica de fundici�n en concentraciones de plastificante de 10 a 30 g/100 g de almid�n a 80�C durante 10 min. Posteriormente, las masas obtenidas se sometieron al proceso de modificaci�n f�sica y peletizado con un ajuste de humedad aproximadamente del 50%. El almid�n extra�do en promedio a partir de las semillas de aguacate hass fue de 2895,03g de polvo seco a 35�C lo que representa un rendimiento del 14,93%. Se evidencia una estructura tipo B con una cristalinidad del 38,63% mostrando acoplamiento t�rmico y granular en la estructura polim�rica. La extracci�n de almid�n fue exitosa y su rendimiento puede considerarse bajo, no obstante, el medio ambiente y la seguridad alimentaria pueden verse beneficiadas gracias a la transformaci�n inteligente de este desecho el cual puede emplearse en sistemas alimentarios y no alimentarios.
