English title:	Applied research at the "Instituci�n Universitaria Pascual Bravo", Colombia

English abstract:	Applied research is defined as "the generation of knowledge with direct application and in the medium term in society or in the productive sector". In the case of the Pascual Bravo University Institution, it is addressed directly by the institutional research groups through systematic, methodical, and critical activities based on knowledge and practical and collaborative experience. With it, technology is created, developed, integrated, transformed, improved, and prototyped for use in different fields and for the generation of new processes, products, and services in response to the needs, trends, and opportunities of the local, national and international environment. in favor of technological progress and the improvement of the quality of life in society. The Applied Research model is based on the work of the Research Groups, currently, there are five (5) Institutional Research groups, which are mentioned below: "Grupo de Investigaci�n e Innovaci�n en Energ�a (GIIEN), Grupo de Investigaci�n e Innovaci�n Ambiental (GIIAM), Grupo de Investigaci�n En Ciencias Electr�nicas E Inform�ticas (GICEI), Grupo de Investigaci�n en Calidad y Productividad (QUALIPRO), e ICONO". The first three groups are attached to the Faculty of Engineering and the next two to the Faculty of Production and Design, they carry out their work under established Research Lines (22 in total), consistent with the training objectives of the academic programs of both Faculties. The model raises several levels, positioning under the Research Groups, the Research Seedbeds, support for extracurricular and voluntary training at different academic levels: secondary and undergraduate; that are nourished and in turn feed the Research Groups, working in the Lines structured around the objects of technological knowledge of the Institution. This bidirectional link between Seedbeds and Groups allows students to train in research, and strengthen a critical, creative, and innovative spirit that responds to real problems in different sectors: Company, Community, and State. In addition to the above, in the model the actors are visualized, such as the training personnel: Seedbed Coordinators, administrative personnel: Group Leaders, and management personnel: Line and Articulation Leaders with teaching; all of them are fundamental figures in the model that allow an impact on academic curricula and guarantee the development of research. Finally, it is important to highlight that the applied research developed in the institution allows it to respond to the needs of the environment, generating productivity and business competitiveness, social well-being of the communities, and economic and sustainable development of the regions. Guaranteeing through the innovation, transfer, and services program (PITS) the transfer of knowledge generated in the research groups to society.
Spanish abstract:	La investigaci�n aplicada es definida como �la generaci�n de conocimiento con aplicaci�n directa y a mediano plazo en la sociedad o en el sector productivo� (Lozada, 2014). Para el caso de la Instituci�n Universitaria Pascual Bravo, se aborda directamente desde los grupos de investigaci�n institucionales mediante actividades sistem�ticas, met�dicas y cr�ticas fundamentadas en conocimiento y experiencia pr�ctica y colaborativa. Con ella se crea, desarrolla, integra, transforma, mejora y prototipa la tecnolog�a para su uso en diferentes �mbitos y para la generaci�n de nuevos procesos, productos y servicios como respuesta a las necesidades, tendencias y oportunidades del entorno local, nacional e internacional, en favor del progreso tecnol�gico y el mejoramiento de la calidad de vida en la sociedad. El modelo de Investigaci�n Aplicada se sustenta en el trabajo de los Grupos de Investigaci�n, actualmente existen cinco (5) grupos de Investigaci�n Institucional, los cuales se mencionan a continuaci�n: Grupo de Investigaci�n e Innovaci�n en Energ�a (GIIEN), Grupo de Investigaci�n e Innovaci�n Ambiental (GIIAM), Grupo de Investigaci�n En Ciencias Electr�nicas E Inform�ticas (GICEI), Grupo de Investigaci�n en Calidad y Productividad (QUALIPRO), e ICONO. Los tres primeros grupos est�n adscritos a la Facultad de Ingenier�a y los dos siguientes a la Facultad de Producci�n y Dise�o, estos realizan su trabajo bajo L�neas de Investigaci�n establecidas (22 en total), concordantes con los objetos de formaci�n de los programas acad�micos de ambas Facultades. El modelo plantea varios niveles, posicionando bajo los Grupos de Investigaci�n, los Semilleros de Investigaci�n, soporte de la formaci�n extracurricular y voluntaria en diferentes niveles acad�micos: secundaria y pregrado; que se nutren y su vez alimentan a los Grupos de Investigaci�n, trabajando en las L�neas estructuradas en torno a los objetos de conocimiento tecnol�gico propios de la Instituci�n. Este enlace bidireccional entre Semilleros y Grupos permite a los estudiantes formarse en investigaci�n, fortalecer un esp�ritu cr�tico, creativo e innovador que d� respuesta a problemas reales de los diferentes sectores: Empresa, Comunidad, Estado. Aunado a lo anterior, en el modelo se visualizan los actores, tales como el personal formativo: Coordinadores de Semillero, personal administrativo: L�deres de Grupo, y personal de direccionamiento: L�deres de L�nea y Articulaci�n con docencia; todos, figuras fundamentales en el modelo que permiten un impacto en los curr�culos acad�micos y garantizan el desarrollo de la investigaci�n. Finalmente, es importante resaltar que la investigaci�n aplicada desarrollada en la instituci�n permite dar respuesta a las necesidades del entorno generando productividad y competitividad empresarial, bienestar social de las comunidades y desarrollo econ�mico y sostenible de las regiones. Garantizando por medio del programa de innovaci�n transferencia y servicios (PITS) la transferencia de conocimiento generados en los grupos de investigaci�n a la sociedad.
