English title:	Production of iron oxide-based nanoheterostructures for applications in magnetic hyperthermia therapy.
Spanish title:	Producci�n de nanoheteroestructuras basadas en �xido de hierro para aplicaciones en la terapia de hipertermia magn�tica
English abstract:	It is estimated that in the year 2020 about 10 million people worldwide will die of cancer. It is therefore important to find alternative non-invasive treatments that can counteract this disease. Currently, magnetic hyperthermia is a promising treatment as an adjuvant to eliminate cancer cells. In fact, the possibility has been studied that the nanoparticles used in the therapy, are nanoheterostructured materials, that is, nanomaterials made up of multiple components such as gold (Au), cobalt (Co), manganese (Mn), zinc (Zn) and silver (Ag) among others, in order to obtain greater efficiency in the elimination of cancer cells. In this work, the synthesis of nanoheterostructures (NHs) based on iron oxide and metals such as Zn, Mn and Ag was carried out by the thermal decomposition method. The material characterization was carried out by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and magnetization measurements. Monodisperse NHs were obtained, with cubic morphology, with an average size of 30 nm, which proved to increase in temperature by more than 10�C when subjected to an alternating magnetic field.
Spanish abstract:	Se estima que en el a�o 2020 cerca de 10 millones de personas, a nivel mundial, fallecieron a causa del c�ncer. Por tanto, es importante encontrar tratamientos alternativos no invasivos que puedan contrarrestar esta enfermedad. Actualmente, la hipertermia magn�tica es un tratamiento prometedor como coadyuvante para eliminar las c�lulas cancer�genas. En efecto, se ha estudiado la posibilidad de que las nanopart�culas utilizadas en la terapia sean materiales nanoheteroestructurados, es decir, nanomateriales conformados por m�ltiples componentes como oro (Au), cobalto (Co), manganeso (Mn), zinc (Zn) y plata (Ag) entre otros, con la finalidad de obtener una mayor eficiencia en la eliminaci�n de c�lulas cancer�genas. En este trabajo se llev� a cabo la s�ntesis de nanoheterostructuras (NHs) basadas en �xido de hierro y metales como Zn, Mn y Ag, mediante el m�todo de descomposici�n t�rmica. La caracterizaci�n del material se llev� a cabo por medio de difracci�n de rayos X (DRX), microscop�a electr�nica de transmisi�n (MET) y medidas de magnetizaci�n. Se obtuvieron NHs monodispersas, con morfolog�a c�bica, con tama�o promedio de 30 nm, las cuales, probaron aumentar la temperatura en m�s de 10 oC al ser sometidas a un campo magn�tico alterno.
