English title:	In vitro biocompatibility study of titanium-based coatings
Spanish title:	Estudio de biocompatibilidad in vitro de recubrimientos a base de titanio
English abstract:	Metallic and ceramic Ti, TiN, TiN/Ti, and TiZr thin films were synthesized in monolayers, bilayer, and multilayers as a superficial treatment to biocompatible AISI 316L steel, using physical vapor deposition (PVD) -reactive and no reactive direct current (DC) magnetron sputtering with HCP structures for Ti and TiZr metallic coatings and face cubic center (FCC) for ceramic TiN, with (111) preferential orientation, analyzed by XRD. The hardness (H) superficial mechanical property of 316L steel (4.81 GPa) is increased with the application of nanometer coatings, observing higher influence when depositing titanium nitride (TiN) with H= 17.34 Gpa. The synergy between Ti, TiZr, and TiN monolayers forms Ti/TiN. (COF) compared to bare 316L substrate. The wear mechanism after COF tests is abrasive for all studied systems, TiN coating presents higher stability, supporting the tribological process, avoiding in higher measure substrate material degradation when compared to metallic characteristic superficial treatments and used substrate. Biologically systems show biological acceptance, due to the increase of cellular growth of 397.3% for the L929 line fibroblasts, besides the absence of cytotoxicity percentages or genotoxic activity with respect to the biocompatible Teflon (Te) pattern.
Spanish abstract:	Las pel�culas delgadas met�licas y cer�micas de Ti, TiN, TiN/Ti, TiZr fueron sintetizado en monocapas, bicapas y multicapas como tratamiento superficial para Acero biocompatible AISI 316L, utilizando deposici�n f�sica a vapor (PVD)-reactivo y no reactivo de corriente directa (DC) de magnetr�n sputtering con estructuras HCP para recubrimientos met�licos de Ti y TiZr y c�bica centrada en las caras (FCC) para cer�mica TiN, con orientaci�n preferencial (111), analizada por XRD. Dureza (H) propiedad mec�nica superficial del acero 316L (4,81 GPa) se incrementa con la aplicaci�n de recubrimientos nanom�tricos, observ�ndose mayores influencia al depositar nitruro de titanio (TiN) con H= 17,34 Gpa. sinergia entre monocapas de Ti, TiZr y TiN para formar Ti/TiN. (COF) en comparaci�n con desnudo Sustrato 316L. El mecanismo de desgaste despu�s de las pruebas COF es abrasivo para todos los estudiados. sistemas, el recubrimiento de TiN presenta una mayor estabilidad, apoyando la tribol�gica proceso, evitando en mayor medida la degradaci�n del material del sustrato cuando en comparaci�n con los tratamientos superficiales caracter�sticos met�licos y el sustrato utilizado. Biol�gicamente los sistemas muestran aceptaci�n, debido al aumento de crecimiento celular de 397,3% para la l�nea L929 fibroblastos, adem�s de la ausencia de porcentajes de citotoxicidad o actividad genot�xica respecto al patr�n de tefl�n (Te) biocompatible.
