English title:	Modeling, Simulation and Analysis of the Mechanical Behavior of the Blade of a Vertical Axis Wind Turbine in the Chicamocha Canyon in Santander.

English abstract:	In recent decades, the interest in energy harnessing and the correct use of resources in a clean and environmentally friendly way has expanded due to the global increase in energy demand. This has led to the search for the development of energy capturing machines with better design characteristics. To achieve this, it is necessary to study several materials that are easy to recycle and have low environmental impact, possessing the necessary characteristics for application in the study area. Currently, H-type Darrieus vertical axis wind turbines use synthetic or composite materials for the manufacture of their blades, which generate solid waste that is difficult to dispose of at the end of their life cycle. In this research, the use of an easily recyclable composite material called Nylon X was proposed as a solution. Nylon X is a thermoplastic polymer belonging to the family of reinforced polyamides with carbon fiber filaments. When it loses its properties, it can be reused for the manufacture of the same blades. Using the finite element method, a CDF analysis was performed with the DUE06W200 aerodynamic profile, which according to consulted references, presents better performance in the selected study area. To do this, a blade of these wind turbines was modeled, simulating under the specific conditions of the Chicamocha Canyon. The results showed that the total deformations with the proposed material under the study conditions were minimal and that Nylon X material along with the design presents good conditions of structural resistance for the use of low-power wind energy generation in the Chicamocha Canyon in Santander.
Spanish abstract:	En las �ltimas d�cadas, el inter�s por el aprovechamiento energ�tico y el uso correcto de recursos de forma limpia y amigable con el medio ambiente ha aumentado, esto debido al incremento de demanda energ�tica a nivel mundial, lo cual ha implementado la b�squeda del desarrollo de m�quinas captadoras de energ�a con mejores caracter�sticas de dise�o, para esto es necesario el estudio de diversos materiales de f�cil reciclaje y bajo impacto ambiental que posean las caracter�sticas necesarias para la aplicaci�n en el lugar de estudio. Actualmente los aerogeneradores de eje vertical Darrieus tipo H, utilizan materiales sint�ticos o compuestos para la fabricaci�n de sus �labes los cuales generan residuos s�lidos de dif�cil disposici�n al final de su ciclo de vida. En esta investigaci�n, como soluci�n se plantea el uso de un material compuesto de f�cil reciclaje llamado nylon X, el cual es un pol�mero termopl�stico perteneciente a la familia de las poliamidas reforzado con filamentos de fibra de carbono el cual al perder sus propiedades se puede reutilizar para la fabricaci�n de los mismos �labes. Utilizando el m�todo de elementos finitos se realiz� un an�lisis CDF, con el perfil aerodin�mico DUE06W200, el cual seg�n las referencias consultadas presenta mejor rendimiento en el lugar de estudio seleccionado, para ello, se realiz� el modelado de un �labe de estos aerogeneradores, simulando en las condiciones espec�ficas del ca��n del Chicamocha. Como resultados se observa que las deformaciones totales con el material propuesto en las condiciones de estudio son peque�as y que el material Nylon X junto con el dise�o, presenta buenas condiciones de resistencia estructural para el uso de generaci�n de energ�a e�lica de baja potencia en el ca��n del Chicamocha en Santander.
