English title:	HYDROGEN PRODUCTION THROUGH THE ELECTROLYSIS PROCESS OF PRODUCTION WATERS FROM THE LA CIRA INFANTAS OIL FIELD.
Spanish title:	PRODUCCI�N DE HIDR�GENO MEDIANTE EL PROCESO DE ELECTR�LISIS DE LAS AGUAS DE PRODUCCI�N DEL CAMPO PETROLERO LA CIRA INFANTAS
English abstract:	The purpose of this research was to evaluate the generation of hydrogen on a laboratory scale from the electrolysis of production waters from �La Cira Infantas� field for its potential use in the industry. It is important to highlight that the parameter of the water-oil production ratio (WOR) in this field is around 14; thus, it is necessary to apply efficient practices with the environment. Electrolysis tests were performed using an EC570-90 power supply and graphite electrodes. Initially, a mixed 2x3x3 experimental design was generated taking salinity concentration levels (2000 and 20000 mg/Lt), 3 amperage variations (100-150-200 mA), and 3 pH variations (4-7-10). The volume of hydrogen produced for each of the tests was measured for 15 minutes. The data obtained was recorded in the Statgraphics 18 software, therefore, the statistical parameters showed that the most important and influential variable in the proposed design was the intensity of the current, followed to a lesser extent by salt concentration. It was evidenced that the pH had an insignificant effect on the process. The results demonstrated that the use of production waters for the generation of hydrogen by electrolysis can be scaled in different production waters. Likewise, the implementation of electrolysis with alternative technologies can be considered as a sustainable energy vector, which can complement the energy required in the extraction stages and different surface activities for the oil industry.
Spanish abstract:	La presente investigaci�n tuvo como prop�sito evaluar la generaci�n de hidr�geno a escala laboratorio a partir de la electr�lisis de las aguas de producci�n del campo La Cira Infantas para su potencial uso en la industria. Es importante destacar que el par�metro de la relaci�n de producci�n agua-petr�leo (RAP) en este campo se encuentra alrededor de 14; por lo que, es necesario aplicar pr�cticas eficientes con el medio ambiente. Las pruebas de electr�lisis se realizaron empleando una fuente de alimentaci�n EC570-90 y electrodos de grafito. Inicialmente, se gener� un dise�o experimental mixto 2x3x3 tomando de niveles de concentraci�n de salinidad (2000 y 20000 mg/Lt), 3 variaciones de amperaje (100-150-200 mA), y 3 variaciones de pH (4-7-10). La medici�n del volumen de hidr�geno producido para cada una de las pruebas se realiz� durante 15 minutos. Los datos obtenidos fueron registrados en el software Statgraphics 18, por tanto, los par�metros estad�sticos mostraron que la variable m�s importante e influyente en el dise�o planteado fue la intensidad de corriente, seguido en menor proporci�n la concentraci�n de sal. Se evidencio que el pH present� un efecto poco significativo en el proceso. Los resultados demostraron que el uso de aguas de producci�n para la generaci�n de hidr�geno mediante electr�lisis se puede escalar en diferentes aguas de producci�n. As� mismo, la implementaci�n de la electr�lisis con tecnolog�as alternativas puede considerarse como un vector energ�tico sostenible, que puede complementar la energ�a requerida en las etapas de extracci�n y diferentes actividades de superficie para la industria del petr�leo.
