English title:	Nanostructures in nature as a model for biomimicry and new technologies
Spanish title:	Nanoestructuras en la naturaleza como un modelo para la biomimesis y nuevas tecnolog�as
English abstract:	The properties that nanostructures provide to materials are varied and allow the development of technological solutions in the manufacturing industry, medicine, and environmental care. Many of the nanostructures that are currently synthesized have their origin in the observation of certain natural phenomena, giving rise to biomimicry. Over millions of years, nature has evolved to adapt to different conditions and this has allowed it to develop effective strategies for these challenges. Some examples of these applications are Self-cleaning surfaces, superconductors, ferrofluids, and Biosensors, among others. In the present work, techniques for the characterization of materials applied to study insects are proposed. Physical properties such as structural color and transparency as well as chemical composition will be reviewed.
Spanish abstract:	Las propiedades que brindan las nanoestructuras a los materiales son muy variadas y permiten desarrollar soluciones tecnol�gicas en la industria de manufacturas as� como en la medicina y en el cuidado del medioambiente. Muchas de las nanoestructuras que se sintetizan actualmente tienen su origen en la observaci�n de ciertos fen�menos de la naturaleza dando su origen a la biomimesis. Durante millones de a�os la naturaleza ha evolucionado para adaptarse a diferentes condiciones y eso le ha permitido desarrollar estrategias efectivas a esos desaf�os. Las superficies autolimpiantes, superconductores, ferrofluidos, biosensores, son algunos ejemplos de esas aplicaciones. En el presente trabajo se plantean ciertas estrategias basadas en el an�lisis mediante el uso de t�cnicas de caracterizaci�n de materiales aplicadas al estudio de insectos. Las propiedades f�sicas como el color estructural y transparencia as� como la composici�n qu�mica, ser�n estudiadas.
