English abstract:	The Analytical Biochemistry Unit (UBQA) was created in 2001 to develop biomolecule analysis techniques and train students of the Bachelor of Biochemistry career at the Faculty of Sciences, Universidad de la Rep�blica, Montevideo, Uruguay, in quantitative chemical analysis. Its founder, Justo La�z, began the line of biosensors for molecules of interest. Later others were added as the teaching team specialized in different areas of knowledge. This exhibition traces the evolution of the Analytical Biochemistry Unit in terms of the three functions of Universidad de la Rep�blica: teaching, research, and extension. In this sense, it shows the different projects and lines of research that are currently being developed, the international and local collaboration that exists, and the teaching and extension activities that are carried out.
Spanish abstract:	La Unidad de Bioqu�mica Anal�tica se cre� en el a�o 2001 con el objetivo de desarrollar t�cnicas de an�lisis de biomol�culas y formar estudiantes de la Licenciatura en Bioqu�mica de Facultad de Ciencias, Universidad de la Rep�blica, Montevideo, Uruguay, en el an�lisis qu�mico cuantitativo. Su fundador, Justo La�z comenz� la l�nea de biosensores de mol�culas de inter�s y luego se fueron sumando otras a medida que el equipo docente se fue especializando en distintas �reas del conocimiento. La presente exposici�n recorre la evoluaci�n de la Unidad de Bioqu�mica Anal�tica en t�rminos de las tres funciones de la Universidad de la Rep�blica: ense�anza, investigaci�n y extensi�n. En ese sentido muestra los distintos proyectos y l�neas de investgaci�n que se desarrollan en la actualidad, la colaboraci�n internacional y local con que se cuenta y las actividades de ense�anza y extensi�n que se llevan adelante.
